Nyege Nyege, which means “the feeling of a sudden uncontrollable urge to move,” perfectly encapsulates the spirit of this festival. It began as a small gathering of music and art enthusiasts in 2015 and has since grown into one of the most significant festivals in East Africa. It’s a celebration of music, arts, and culture, bringing together people from various backgrounds to revel in the beauty of diversity. Schedule Details

Day 1: Nairobi to Jinja (Travel Day)

Morning:

6:00 AM: Depart from Nairobi by bus. It's recommended to book an early morning departure to make the most of your day.
Enjoy scenic views as you travel through the Kenyan countryside.

Afternoon:

1:00 PM: Arrive at the Busia border crossing between Kenya and Uganda.
Complete immigration and customs procedures. Ensure you have all the necessary travel documents, including a valid passport, visa (if required), and yellow fever vaccination certificate.

Late Afternoon:

4:00 PM: Continue your journey to Jinja, Uganda, after crossing the border.
Enjoy the changing landscape as you drive through Uganda.

Evening:

8:00 PM: Arrive in Jinja, Uganda.
Check-in to your chosen accommodation in Jinja.
Rest and freshen up after a long day of travel.

Day 2: Nyege Nyege Festival

Morning:

9:00 AM: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your accommodation.

Late Morning to Evening:

12:00 PM: Head to the festival venue, Nile Discovery Beach, for the opening day of the Nyege Nyege Festival.
Explore the festival grounds, art installations, and vendor stalls.

Day 3: Nyege Nyege Festival

Morning:

9:00 AM: Have breakfast at your accommodation.

Late Morning to Evening:

12:00 PM: Return to the Nyege Nyege Festival for another day of music, art, and culture.

Day 5: Jinja Exploration and Return to Nairobi (Travel Day)

Morning:

8:00 AM: Check out of your accommodation in Jinja.
Explore Jinja's attractions, such as the source of the Nile, boat rides, or local markets.

Lunch:

Have lunch at a local restaurant in Jinja.

Afternoon:

2:00 PM: Depart from Jinja by bus for the return journey to Nairobi.
